Blues band returns to the suburbs for a performance

Howard & The White Boys returns to the suburbs for a performace on Friday, Nov. 20, at This Must Be The Place in Lemont.

Delicious dramedy with 'Murder at the Hawaiian Luau' in Lemont

It's dramatic. It's funny. And it's delicious.

"Murder at the Hawaiian Luau" is a comedic murder mystery dinner theater that will be performed at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13, at the Ruffled Feathers Golf Club, 1 Pete Dye Drive, Lemont.

This farcical show, presented in a dinner theatre format is tailored for audiences 18 and older but appropriate for audiences of all ages, and involves the attendees in an interactive “whodunit” extravaganza with a hawaiian theme. Top professional actors from the Chicago area have been recruited for the show, as the audience joins in the fun by helping to solve the “crime.”

Tickets are $50 per person and includes the live show, dinner and DJ. A cash bar is available. Reservations are suggested, as seating is limited.

‘Love of Art Show’ unveiled in Lemont

The 15th annual “Love of Art Show and Sale” will be presented by the Lemont Artists Guild and the Lemont Park District. The event takes place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, at the Lemont Park District, 16028 127th St.

Organizers note the show grows in size, attendance and the quality of fine art and fine craft each year. In 2008, more than 45 artists exhibited and sold their original work in painting, ceramics, photography, woodworking, drawing, glass, jewelry, fiber and other media. Only original fine art and fine craft are allowed at the show, which is judged by professional artists.

'Nashville Star' Nicole Jamrose to release CD in Lemont

Nicole Jamrose of St. John is following her appearance as the last woman standing in the 2006 fourth season of the USA Network series, "Nashville Star," with a new album called "U-TURN."

Nicole with her band will have a CD release party on Friday at This Must Be The Place at 206 Main St. in Lemont. Nicole and her band take the stage at 9 p.m. The party will have special VIP and CD giveaways, plus a meet and greet with Nicole and her band.

Pink Nite! festivities at This Must Be the Place in Lemont to help fight breast cancer

“Pink Nite! A Ladies Evening Out Fundraiser” to benefit the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides for Breast Cancer will be hosted by This Must Be The Place, 206 Main St., in downtown Lemont. It takes place from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15.

The evening will feature dinner and specialty menu items including Pink Ribbon Martinis and Sweet Strides desserts. Activities include raffles, Ladies Pub Trivia, mini facial and light therapy treatments, and massage services. Crafters and artisans will sell unique items. Specialty products from Tastefully Simple, Pampered Chef, Tupperware, In Pursinators and Silpada jewelry also will be available for purchase.

Vito & Nick's Pizzeria brings more to the table than their pizza

Every Friday and Saturday of October, travel to Lemont to hear music at Vito & Nick's Pizzeria, 1015 S. State St., Lemont.

The pizza joint known for its thin-crust pizza will feature live entertainment every Friday and Saturday, starting at 9 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m.

And for those who missed The Original Vito & Nick's Pizzeria in Chicago on Guy Fieri's "Diners, Drive-ins & Dives," they will get another chance to see the Food Network episode on Monday, Oct. 19 and Tuesday, Oct. 20, according to Vito & Nick's Web site.

Art and Culture Commission to bring festival to Lemont

Join the Art and Culture Commission in celebrating Art Month with a Fall Art Festival this Saturday afternoon and evening, Oct. 3.

An Artist Market will be held on Main Street in downtown Lemont from noon to dusk, with artist demonstrations all day. Visit the Children’s Activity Area and don't miss the dance performance at 1 p.m. by the Mt. Carmel Folkloric Dancers.

An eclectic mix of entertainment comes to This Must Be The Place, 206 Main St. Featured artists will perform throughout the day and into the evening. Magician Tomas will entertain from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., traveling table to table in the restaurant. Tomas then performs his magic at 2 p.m. on the stage. Tickets to his stage performance cost $10, $5 for ages 12 and younger.

English punk/rave band Enter Shikari to join lineup

The U.K. band Enter Shikari will be stopping at the Jaguar Club in Lemont on Sunday, Sept. 13, in support of its new album, “Common Dreads,” sharing the stage with such groups as Alesana, The Bled, Asking Alexandria and Broadway.

Concert organizers say the St. Albans, England-based quartet is known for an eclectic sound that melds hard-core punk with pulse-pumping rave/trance. The album was released June 16 (digitally in the U.S. via the band’s own imprint, Ambush Reality, in partnership with DGC/Interscope Records) as the follow-up to their gold-certified debut, “Take to the Skies,” which debuted at No. 4 on the U.K. chart.

You can play a role in bringing music to seniors, disadvantaged youth

The Music for Life Program at the American Music Institute will present a free concert at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18, at Holy Family Villa, a retirement home in Lemont. The AMI String Trio will perform musical favorites by Mozart, Gershwin and Johann Strauss Jr., among other highlights.

The overall mission of the Music for Life Program at AMI is to ensure that all portions of the community experience the joy of making and listening to music in an educational and community-focused setting. Children in underserved public schools that do not have the opportunity to experience learning and playing music are able to receive free music education and attend no-cost concerts. Additionally, the program offers musical and educational performances for the senior community throughout Illinois.
