Stradivari Quartett to star

The Zurich-based Stradivari Quartett will perform at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, in the Wentz Concert Hall on the campus of North Central College in Naperville. The event is part of the Artists Showcase West classical music series, and marks its first event in Naperville since it was founded 63 years ago.

The quartet will perform a program first heard in the United States last January at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art titled "Four Stories, Four Strads."

The British are coming: Grammy-winning saxophonist to team with rising pianist in St. Charles

World-class jazz and more will fire up the entertainment scene in St. Charles at 8 p.m. Saturday, June 27, at Baker Memorial United Methodist Church.

A special concert of jazz and classical music will feature two renowned musicians from the United Kingdom: saxophonist and composer Tim Garland (www.timgarland.com) and pianist Gwilym Simcock (www.gwilymsimcock.com).
 

Harmony of sound and place: Classical guitar to take root in Fabyan Japanese Garden

Feel like turning Japanese? A classical guitar concert set in the Fabyan Japanese Garden begins at 7 p.m. Friday, June 19. Amid one of the Fox Valley's most serene sanctuaries, audience members can lose themselves in the Asian-inspired music of accomplished musician Casey Nielsen. Refreshments cap the event. Admission is free to members of Preservation Partners and cost $5 for nonmembers. Blankets or lawn chairs are suggested for seating. The Japanese Garden will be open for strolling from 1 to 4 p.m.
