Final weekend for ‘The Spirit of All-Hallows Eve’
Families are invited to catch the final weekend of “The Spirit of All-Hallows Eve” at Bolingbrook’s Theatre-on-the-Hill, which recreates the origins of the holiday, then tells three eerie tales described as fun for kids and adults alike.
The troupe says author and director Douglas Hawksworth has created a show filled with fantastical costumes and sets for the informative story. The first act includes the entrance of the Celtic harvest god Samhain, and the judging of a wayward mummy by Egyptian gods Anubis, Horus and Osiris. The second act features the story of a witch, and a vampire chronicle.

Christina Fleetwood recently attended the play, commenting “I’ve taken my young son to countless shows, and this is the first one that held his attention from beginning to end. It’s that good.”
“The Spirit of All-Hallows Eve” is playing indoors at Bolingbrook’s Performing Arts Stage, 375 W. Briarcliff, behind the Town Center building. Performances begin at 8 p.m. Friday and at 3 and 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday from Oct. 30 to Nov. 1. Tickets cost $10 for students and seniors, $12 for adults. The Peace Center in Berwyn is hosting an evening of celebration, fun, and mystery with its first ever Samhain Ceremony and Spooky Psychic Fair on Friday evening, October. 30. The Wiccan Ceremony of Samhain (pronounced Sow-an, Celtic meaning "November"), is open to the public and begins at 6 p.m. with Marty Couch facilitating.
We invite the public to attend the Hallows or Samhain ceremony to celebrate the change in season and appreciation for our departed loved ones," says Margo Ruark, Director of the Peace Center. "Halloween is a great opportunity to share the Wiccan traditions of the circle of life and foster understanding between people of all faiths." The ceremony is offered on a love offering basis.
After the ceremony eight psychics will offer short readings for Peace Center patrons from 7-10 p.m. "It's all in fun, but don't be surprised if you learn a thing or two." says Ruark. The readings are $10/minute with a 10 minute minimum. See one psychic or see them all!
