Pure MMA Fighting to showcase martial arts in Villa Park

Pure MMA Fighting presents mixed martial arts bouts in “Genesis” at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, in Villa Park.
 
Twelve fights comprise the event in the Odeum Sports and Expo Center, 1033 N. Villa Ave. The main event showcases two undefeated heavyweights: Gabe Salinas vs. Tim “The Kurgan” Nevinger. The co-main event features middleweights Ryan Storey (4-1) vs. Jeremy Godina (4-0). The night also presents a charity match-up — between Pat Moran, a firefighter with the Chicago Fire Department, and Larry Linderman, an Illinois law enforcement agent — donations will be made to each organization’s respective philanthropy.

In addition to the fights, MMA superstar Miguel Torres will sign autographs and guest judge one of the key match-ups. Torres holds more than three dozen wins in his professional career, including a number of title belts in various federations with only one defeat. Among his achievements are achieving gold medals at the Arnold's Classic and Gracie Nationals, as well as taking silver at the Pan American tournaments.
