'Sleeping Beauty' auditions for young stars
Disney's "Sleeping Beauty" won't be sleeping this fall. The production is being revived to take the place of the cancelled Noble Fool ensemble production of "Grease." All dates/times remain the same.
Auditions for "Sleeping Beauty," which is open to local youth ages 8 to 18, will be held on Thursday and Sunday at Pheasant Run Resort, 4051 E. Main St., St. Charles. Auditions are open on the Preservation Hall Studio Stage at Pheasant Run on Thursday, Sept. 10, from 6 to 9 p.m. and on the Pheasant Run Mainstage on Sunday, Sept. 13 from 5 to 9 p.m. No appointment is necessary.
Interested children should prepare and memorize a one-minute monologue and 16 bars of a song that best displays their talent. An accompanist will be provided, so children should bring sheet music. Everyone will be taught a dance combination at the audition; previous dance training is helpful but not required. Children may also be asked to do a cold reading from the script. Everyone should bring a headshot and a resume to the audition.
The NFT Youth Ensemble will present Sleeping Beauty for the public on the Mainstage at Pheasant Run on the following dates: Nov. 28, Dec. 5, 12, 19; Saturday at 10:30 a.m , and December 13; Sunday at 7 p.m. Student Field Trips are available on Dec. 4; Friday at 10:30 a.m.
Director/Choreographer is Patrick Stinson of Plano and Musical Director is Wayne resident Ken Jones.
The NFT Youth Ensemble is an exclusive, audition-only education program for the best and brightest young talent.
